Why Right Now Is the Perfect Time to Revisit Your Goals

April 18, 20252 min read

If you’re waiting for some perfect moment to set or revisit your goals, let us be clear: this is the moment. - Shawn Dill

Most people only talk about goals once a year—usually somewhere between the sugar rush of December holidays and the regret hangover of New Year’s Day. It’s become this socially accepted ritual: reflect, dream big, scribble into a planner... and then fall right back into old habits by February.

But here’s the truth: there’s nothing magical about December 31st. It’s just another day on the calendar. So is today. Which means today is just as good—if not better—a time to get clear about where you're headed.

We don’t play by the man-made construct of the 12-month calendar. We prefer to think in terms of a rolling 365. That means no matter when you’re reading this, your next 365 days begin now.

Let’s make them count.

Reintroducing the 6 P’s of Goal Setting

In our book None of Your Business, we outline a goal-setting framework that goes deeper than “make more money” or “work out more.” It’s called the 6 P’s, and it creates clarity across your entire life—not just your business.

Here’s how we break it down:

1. Purpose

What do you stand for? What kind of impact do you want to make in the world? These goals help define your mission and your legacy.

2. Personal

These are your health, habits, and lifestyle goals—things like improving sleep, eating better, or waking up earlier to maximize your mornings.

3. Professional

Career targets go here. Whether you want to join a professional board, hit a revenue milestone, or expand your skill set—write it down.

4. People

Relationships are business assets too. Who do you want to grow closer to? Who do you want to meet? Who needs more of your time and presence?

5. Prosperity

Get specific about your money. Don’t just say “make more.” Instead: “I collect $250,000 this year by serving 20 ideal clients per month.”

6. Play

This one matters more than you think. What does fun look like for you? Write goals around vacations, hobbies, toys, or experiences that light you up.

Don’t Wait. Start Now.

If you’re waiting for some perfect moment to set or revisit your goals, let us be clear: this is the moment. Not January 1st. Not "when things calm down."

You don’t need more time. You need more clarity.

Here’s your Adaptable Entrepreneur action plan:

  • Review your current goals. Are they still aligned?

  • Set fresh goals for your next 365 days.

  • Use the 6 P’s to get clear, focused, and fired up.

Let’s adapt, evolve, and move forward—on your timeline.
