The Work You’re Doing Today Is Working… Even If You Can’t See It Yet

March 26, 20253 min read

If your business can’t operate without you, you don’t own a business. You own a job. - Shawn Dill

There’s a famous quote in chiropractic by B.J. Palmer that says:

“You never know how far reaching something you may think, say or do today will affect the lives of millions tomorrow.”

I’ve always believed that. And not just in chiropractic—but in entrepreneurship.

Every conversation.

Every piece of content.

Every small decision.

Every act of service.

It all matters. It all creates ripple effects you may never fully see.

But here’s the hard part: most of those ripple effects take time.

You do the right thing—over and over—and yet nothing seems to change.

You follow the strategy, you stay consistent, you show up… and still no major breakthrough.

That’s when the doubt creeps in.

That’s when most people quit.

Not because they were doing the wrong things—

But because they weren’t getting the right results fast enough.

The Frustration Is Real—But It Doesn’t Mean You’re Failing

Entrepreneurs are wired for results. We want progress. We want momentum. We want wins.

And when we don’t get them, the mind starts negotiating:

“Maybe I’m not cut out for this.”

“Maybe this niche isn’t right.”

“Maybe I should just change directions.”

But here’s the truth—most people abandon the process 30 days before it starts to work.

That video you posted that got 37 views?

Someone saw it. It planted a seed.

That email no one replied to?

Someone opened it. They’re thinking about you.

That conversation you had with a prospect who ghosted you?

They might call you six months from now and say, “I’ve been watching. I’m ready now.”

Just because the result didn’t show up immediately, doesn’t mean the impact wasn’t made.

Why This Is So Hard for Service Providers

As service providers, we’re used to instant feedback.

We adjust someone. They feel better.

We give a strategy. They implement it.

We solve problems. We see the shift.

But business doesn’t always operate on that same timeline.

In entrepreneurship, cause and effect aren’t always linear.

You can be doing the right things for weeks, months, even years… before the momentum catches.

And this is where most people lose.

Not because they didn’t have what it takes—

But because they let time steal their confidence.

What I’d Tell You If You’re Feeling Discouraged

If you’re out there putting in the reps…

If you’re doing the work, following the plan, showing up every day—

And you’re still not seeing the results you hoped for—

Here’s what I’d tell you:

Keep going.

You’re not doing it wrong.

You’re just in the gap between planting and harvest.

Every big result I’ve ever seen—whether in our chiropractic offices, Black Diamond Club, Book Yourself Solid, or any of our investments—was the product of diligent action that looked invisible until it wasn’t.

And when it finally shows up, it always looks like it happened overnight.

It didn’t.

It happened because of the conversations, decisions, and actions we made weeks, months, and years earlier.

You never know who’s watching.

You never know who’s quietly becoming convinced.

You never know which seed is about to break the surface.

Final Thought: Trust the Unseen Work

The problem isn’t that your efforts aren’t working.

The problem is that you’ve been taught to expect instant results in a game that rewards relentless consistency.

Just because it’s taking time doesn’t mean it’s not working.

And just because you can’t see the outcome yet doesn’t mean the impact hasn’t already started.

BJ Palmer was right.

“You never know how far reaching something you may think, say or do today will affect the lives of millions tomorrow.”

That includes what you’re doing right now.

So stay the course.

Keep planting.

Your harvest is coming.

It always does—for those who don’t quit.
